I wonder if Michael Jackson is too far in the rearview mirror for the audiences that are the targets of Big Music. Remember during COVID when Big Entertainment was looking for things to show us, Big Sports hit on the idea of showing great games from the past, and a generation of young people decided that "Michael Jordan was pretty good"? [face palm] I wonder, if you ask 1,000 people under 30 around the world who Michael Jackson was, how many can deliver a reasonable answer? This biopic feels sort of echo-chamberish (stans gonna stan, and those who object are gonna object).

But also, I was surprised you didn't mention Clint Eastwood's orangutan pix: "Every Which Way But Loose" (1978) and its sequel, "Any Which Way You Can) (1980), plus of course "King Kong", "Planet of the Apes" and – unforgettably – Ronald Reagan in "Bedtime for Bonzo"!

I come down on it the same way as you - no to the film, but okay, acknowledging the reality of what I'm doing, to some of the music.
